Orono School – Discovery Kids

Orono Public Schools encompasses the cities of Independence, Long Lake, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnetonka Beach and Orono with nearly 14,000 residents. The district is located 25 minutes west of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

All schools are located on a 120-acre central campus along 2,000 feet of lakeshore: Orono Schumann Elementary (grades K-2); Orono Intermediate (grades 3-5); Orono Middle (grades 6-8); and Orono High (grades 9-12). Some 370 staff members serve a student population of more than 2,700 students.

Since its formation in 1950, the district’s philosophy has been to provide an educational environment in which individual students can acquire the knowledge, learn the skills and develop the attitudes fundamental to a productive and meaningful life. Orono Schools’ programs, students and staff are frequently distinguished for their excellence.
